The Milliman study, which was funded by the Pharmaceutical Care Management Association, estimates Medicare spending on stand-alone Part D plans could increase by nearly $20bn from 2017-2026 if rebates were shifted toward reducing beneficiary cost sharing at the point-of-sale. Medicare costs would increase because premiums would rise, the researchers suggest.
